Growing Info, follow in order:
Scarification: remove all wax from seed, wash in warm detergent water to completely get the wax off, rinse 3 times.
Stratification: cold stratify for 90 days.
Germination: seed may start to germinate in cold strat., sow seed 1/4" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed.
Short description:

A shrub or small tree growing from 10 to 20 feet tall in coastal swamps, stream banks, and wetlands from Tallahassee Florida west to just inside Louisiana. It does not range very far from the coast.
