Bonsai Comments:

Pines make an amazing bonsai because the rough bark on their trunks makes them look old early on. Easily grown from seed in the early spring, the seeds are soaked in water to start germination. This hardy pine species is relatively disease free and tolerates poor soil conditions, making it a good choice for all levels. Needles tend to be quite long but can be reduced with the pruning techniques. Pinus thunbergii prefers cooler climates and loves full sun.
