Growing Info, follow in order:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours.
Stratification: cold stratify for 90 days, or until radicle emergence.
Germination: sow seed 3/4" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed.
Other: fall sowing in mulched beds is prefered to artificial stratification.

* Although the name suggests an alliance to the Pin Oak Q. palustris , it has traditionally been thought to be closely related to the Scarlet Oak Q. coccinea , and was in fact included in that species by many botanists.
* Northern Pin Oak is planted as an ornamental tree, popular for its bright red fall color and tolerance of infertile sandy soils.
