Growing Info, follow in order:

Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours.

Stratification: cold stratify for 60 days.

Germination: sow 1-2" deep, keep moist, mulch the seed bed, can be sown outdoors in the fall for spring germination.

* "With time becomes one of the most spectacular of all trees" (Dirr). Ginkgo has existed unchanged for some 150 million years. Often pyramidal when young, becoming wider with age, ultimately quite massive. Bright green fan-shaped leaves, intoxicating bright yellow in fall.

* The seed is edible raw (in small quantities), or cooked. A soft and oily texture, the seed has a sweet flavour and tastes somewhat like a large pine nut. The baked seed makes very pleasant eating, it has a taste rather like a cross between potatoes and sweet chestnuts. An outdoor Bonsai, the Ginkgo requires winter protection in colder climates, store either in a garage, shed or bury.
