Growing Info, follow in order:
Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours.
Stratification: warm stratify for 30 days, cold stratify for 60 days.
Germination: sow seed 1/4 deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed. sow seed 1/4" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed.
Other: mechanical rupture of the pericarp is recommended before stratification.

* The species has reddish-purple flowers, grows in marshes, ditches, and other wet places, even in shallow water, flowering in June and July, needs acid soil in cultivation, many elaborate, unusual, beautiful, and rather difficult-to-grow cultivars, in whites, pinks, purples, and bluish mauves, these are sometimes grown under the name I. kaempferi, native to Korea, China, Central Asia, and Japan.
