Good tree for beginners because the stems are flexible and responsive to shaping. Plant indoors or out in full sun and shade in warmer climates. Privets are fast growers and do well as long as they are planted in well-drained soil. Also known as The Common or European Privel, this tree is often used as a hedge. The trees are beautiful in the spring with white blooms and in the fall the dark berries appear. Ligustrum vulgare are hardy plants and tolerate temperatures down to 20 degrees F.

One thing to remember is a tree is grown indoors, it needs to acclimate to natural outdoor weather changes. All Bonsai need root protection in below freezing temperatures.
